DUTIES:  The Orem Public Works Department is currently hiring for part-time and seasonal Laborers. These are non-benefited positions responsible for performing a variety of manual duties in the Public Works Department. Hired applicants may elect or be assigned to one of the following sections: Cemetery, Parks, Storm Water, Streets, Traffic, Water (Distribution or Supply), Water Reclamation (Collection or Treatment), or Water Utility. Depending on specific section and assignment, duties may be related to park and cemetery maintenance, sprinkler system repairs, painting, cleaning, water line repair and maintenance, water meter reading and maintenance, sanitary and storm sewer line repair and maintenance, street striping, sign production and installation, streetlight repair and maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS:  May require a valid driver license and have a good driving record. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor outside during spring, summer and fall months in all weather conditions. Due to equipment operation, applicants must be at least 17 years of age; some positions require being at least 18 years of age. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background investigation.
SALARY:  $12.00 to $14.45 per hour depending upon qualifications and type of work performed. SALARY WILL GENERALLY START AT THE LOWER END OF THE SALARY RANGE.
SCHEDULE:  Seasonal and Flexible positions available. Seasonal positions will work up to 40 hours per week and employment will last up to 6 months from date of hire. Flexible positions will work up to 28 hours per week. Weekend work may be required.
